Iranian medical experts believe that "good health" is a fundamental right of all human beings. They also believe, with the prevention, control and treatment of respiratory diseases, they can have a significant impact on improving people's quality of life, as well as protecting and promoting public health. Utilizing diagnostic and therapeutic equipment such as spirometry (breathing test), sleep tests, imaging techniques (CT scan and radiography), angiography, and respiratory assist devices used in intensive care units, lung centers in Iran offer the following services in collaboration with respiratory and lung specialists:
Diagnosis of Sleep Apnea -pauses in breathing during sleep
Care and treatment of respiratory infections
Care and treatment of respiratory failure
Care and treatment of pulmonary embolism
Respiratory intensive care in case of respiratory emergencies
Care and treatment of pulmonary malignancy
Care and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases -such as bronchitis, asthma
Care and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis
Pediatric respiratory disease research centers in Iran have been launched to conduct the necessary studies in acute and chronic respiratory diseases, respiratory emergencies and genetic disorders in children. Some services provided in these centers are treatment of tuberculosis and lung diseases, respiratory diseases in children including acute and chronic ones, congenital lung disorders, genetic disorders and respiratory infections in children, asthma and allergies.
